When it comes to design, Mencor uses TOGAF as its formal software development life cycle methodology which incorporates both project and programme management capabilities. The scope takes both the software and hardware environmental factors into consideration.
The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) is a high level approach to design, a highly-detailed methodology that provides a set of supporting tools for developing enterprise architecture. It is typically modeled at four levels: Business, Application, Data, and Technology. It relies heavily on modularization, standardization, and already existing, proven technologies and products.
The figure illustrates the TOGAF phases, which are a reliable and proven eight-phase process for developing the architecture.
Close collaboration is required between Mencor and the client to ensure each phase is completed successfully in order to lead to a successful implementation of the system.
As one of the deliverables, a Master Systems Plan (MSP) will be developed, a living document is updated as the project evolves in order to ensure the document reflects reality at all times.
Due to the nature and timelines of projects some TOGAF phases may not be completely relevant and therefore certain documents mentioned in the phases may not need to be delivered.
Although largely a Waterfall development approach, TOGAF also supports Agile development, in which case certain phases run concurrently.
